Awake Night Worker

JOB SUMMARY:  The Awake Night Worker works in NOYFSS’s Specialized Homes and Support Services program. The worker will monitor and attend to the well- being and safety of children (age 6-16) residing in our care. Many of these children may have experienced extreme trauma and/or display a variety of behaviors which may include aggression. Additionally, the successful applicant will be required to do housekeeping, laundry, sanitization and some food preparation as required.

WAGE:  $19.66 per hour. This position requires Union membership

HOURS OF WORK/SHIFT:  Casual / Call-in to provide coverage for staff on vacation or away due to illness / leave of absence. Can be any day of the week from 11pm to 7am.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum requirement of Grade 12 and/or 6 months of recent child related experience
  • Must be at least 19 years of age

Within 30 days of hire, you will be expected to complete:

  • First Aid, Foodsafe, WHMIS, TB Skin Test

(NOYFSS will provide cost reimbursement after successful probation period)

JOB SUMMARY:  As part of the Specialized Homes team, the CYW ensures the physical and emotional safety of the children and youth in our care.

The CYW works to support children and youth between the ages of 6 and 17 to achieve their goals through life-skill development, including in-home routines, pro-social/recreational programs, community outings, etc. Most importantly, the CYW ensures a safe, structured, stable and predictable home environment by following individual programs, routines, and working as a team.

WAGE:  Starting at $23.10 per hour. This position requires Union membership

HOURS OF WORK/SHIFT:  Specialized Homes has 2 different lines:

Line 1 – Full-time permanent (3 positions available):

  • 4 days on / 4 days off. These are 10 hour shifts
  • Rotational shift work – includes days, evenings and weekends – averaging 35 to 40 hours per week

Line 2 – Part-time permanent (3 positions available):

  • Saturdays/Sundays – either 7am to 2pm, or 7am to 5pm

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Education and Knowledge:

–  2-year Human Service Worker diploma, Community Service Worker diploma, Social Service diploma (or equivalent) or

– 2 years towards a bachelor’s degree and/or

– equivalent combination of education, training and experience

  • 2 years recent related experience

Within 30 days of hire, you will be expected to complete:

  • First Aid, Food Safe, WHMIS, TB Skin Test
